Borage, Billy and Myself.

When Borage transitioned to a teenager, he had to leave scouts behind, but his badges will act as a keepsake.

Borage sectioned off a corner of our yard as his haven for stray animals. Unfortunately, he has yet to befriend any enough to adopt, but at least he is providing them with food and shelter.

Calvin- you remember him? Well, he asked me to cook some grilled salmon for a party he was hosting. I gladly agreed- he was paying me and it’s not like I have anything else going on!

He still looks so young…do vampires age slower?

Billy’s newest mission is to cook an excellent burger. He has been watching the cooking channel religiously in hopes that he’ll gain some valuable insight. In addition, he has been volunteering to cook the occasional dinner.

Gavin, the celebrity who lives next door, commissioned Billy for a large painting. He paid very handsomely for it too!

Jodi’s Fix

Jodi is still having trouble connecting with people and she’s very unfocused….different from how she was when she was a child. She enjoys skipping school and staying out past curfew. A police officer brought her home the another night!

Despite her unwillingness to participate in the required academic studies, she does enjoy pursuing her own interests. Jodi participates in chess competitions, researches new chemical potions, and reads all the time. After a long discussion with Jodi, Billy came to the conclusion that she needs more of a challenge. Stricter rules, ambitious objectives, and a ultimate purpose. So, we decided to send Jodi to the Fort Starch Military School. Jodi will get a head-start in her chosen profession and be provided with interesting challenges. We are confident she will excel, though we will miss her terribly!

Basil is a moody teenager and he still hasn’t forgiven me for grounding him so many times; even though I graciously welcomed Peanut into our home. I tried giving Basil my Egyptian camera so that perhaps he would consider pursuing a career in photography…he could photograph celebrities. But, he wasn’t interested.

Basil is spending less time with Peanut than he should- at least in my opinion. She needs some support as she discovers her surroundings. But Basil just want to go to parties and hang out in parks hunting down celebrities. At least he is maintaining his grades now though, so I can’t complain.

Peanut has a habit of pulling pranks…such as putting dye in the shower….she managed to dye Basil’s hair aqua. LOL.

Peanut and I actually have become very good friends. I taught her how to drive and she was very excited. She was an excellent student.

Another Transformation…four teenagers under one roof!

Okay, who left Sultan Sam the Egyptian Garden Gnome in the kitchen?

It’s time for lil’ quiet Borage to turn into an obnoxious teen!

Or maybe not…as it turns out, Borage’s personality didn’t change all that much. He is less imaginative than he was before but he is still nice, quiet Borage. He’s a good student, a bit of a perfectionist, brave, athletic and adores animals. Did I tell you that his lifetime desire is to adopt six stray animals? Such compassion!

You know…I’ve never had the courage to ask or even hint at it…but does anyone else think Jodi’s biological mom was our maid? It would explain why she decided to show up when we already had a maid. I’ve never understood why the agency thinks we need TWO maids.

Okay, maybe I do. If the maid you know have lives and want to get home at a reasonable hour that is. Hey…we are a big family…I can only do so much!

Borage’s first mission as a teen was to learn how to use a treadmill.

Wait, now I have three teenagers?

Basil has given you the rundown of the events leading up to the prom, so you know have yet another teen living in my house- Peanut. But first, I need to express my concerns for Jodi. Not only has she gotten into multiple fights recently, she is also now failing school. She was such a little angel as a child, what happened? I have also discovered that she has no friends…zero…not even an imaginary one. We need to help Jodi. But how?

Borage is on the honor-roll and doing well in Scouts. Although, Scouts has given him a particular fondness for animals and wildlife which, while I appreciate, had resulted in him coming home covered in fleas more than once. Being an incredibly brave soul, he is excelling in the outdoor activities in Scouts…he will readily except any challenge and he isn’t afraid to get dirty, investigate a wild animal, or go tromping through the woods. He also loves the feeling of accomplishment, so takes on a leadership role to get the job done quickly. While the teens were having a good time at the prom, Borage was trying to befriend a stray cat.

Now…how did I end up with a third teenager? It took a lot of convincing for me to accept Peanut for what she really is. Billy was convinced quickly but he saw the transformation. I on the other hand sat through an entire recounting of Basil’s childhood before I was convinced. Well, we can’t just toss the poor thing on the street can we? We have a certain responsibility for her now. So…we set up a bed in the Relic Room. Not ideal, but Jodi doesn’t have any space for another bed in her room…and frankly, I’m disinclined to give her a roommate at the moment. Peanut enthusiastically accepted her new room, insisting that she adores all the rusty old relics.

In fact, the girl seems to adore everything. She puts a positive spin on any negative happening and takes on every new activity with excitement. She has actually been really good for Basil- she gets him to participate in all the innocent activities he used to love- like fishing for minnows in our pond (the fish tank is running again!) and playing hopscotch. She also has his eye for photography. She does have a lazy streak though…Peanut loves watching movies or TV and playing video games.

She can be a bit neurotic…she likes to brush her teeth three times in a row and she’s constantly checking the faucets to make sure they are not leaking. However, these aren’t bad things…in fact, they are rather endearing. Overall, she has been a positive influence on our home.

OoC Post: The Peanut & Basil Dilemma

For anyone who doesn’t know, OoC means “Out of Character”…so this is the author of the blog talking, not Autumn. :)

Peanut & Basil? Sounds like some sort of weird recipe. :p

Anyway…in order to play my “spares” in the future, I needed to download what is called a Story Progression Mod as the game doesn’t really like you to switch back and forth with multiple households. Most of you already know the details of that, but for those of you who read my blog but DON’T play the Sims, I figured I’d give you a bit of background here. I’ve never been a Mod person before…I don’t use cheat codes either. However, after discovering the wonder of Twallan’s story progression, and how much it a) adds to the game; and b) seamlessly integrates into my game with zero difficulty…I decided to download another mod…the Woohooer Mod. My primary motivation for this was to have the option for “risky woohoo”…it has always bothered me that Sims have perfect birth control 100% of the time. Accidents make for much more interesting stories. ;)

As an awesome, awesome, awesome bonus…my Sims now have a calculated “attraction” level. Chemistry between two Sims is the thing I miss the MOST from the Sims 2. I don’t want to determine who my Sims are attracted to, I want them to tell me. Right now, they only do that very occasionally. Now, I have an attraction feature. Woot! The attraction scores is based on a whole bunch of factors which gives it a sort of mystery/randomness that I really quite enjoy. I like my Sims being attracted to people whom I may not have picked for them; it improves the diversity of our genetic gene pool.

Here’s the problem…

While Peanut thinks Basil is the hottest thing alive (9 out of 10). Basil isn’t attracted to her (3 out of 10). Ouch. He definitely loves her; but can their relationship last? We know Basil is unflirty, so he will have a difficult time finding another match in the future. We also know that Basil needs his ego stroked- which is why he desires to be a celebrity…he craves attention. She definitely gives him attention. Does that make up for the lack of attraction?

What do you think Basil should do?

Basil, reporting for duty!

My mother has informed me that I need to start posting in the family journal because I’m old enough…and she says I’ve “matured” over the last few weeks and its time for me to starting carrying on this family’s legacy and whatnot…yadadada…

Whatever. I’m just so thankful I’m not permanently grounded anymore. Honestly, though, I find myself tiptoeing around the house just because I’m so used to sneaking around in order to not anger mum anymore.

I do have to agree with her that I *have* changed though…

I’m not a popular guy in school…I mean, I know a lot of folks and no one really dislikes me (unlike Jodi!)…but I don’t have any close friends. It was the day before prom and I still didn’t have a date. Not that I really wanted to ask anyone, but I didn’t want to be a loser without a date (again, I say…like Jodi!).

Erm…well, I’m going to be straight with you…don’t laugh, please…this is going to sound so ridiculous, but it’s going to come out eventually. I didn’t *need* any friends from school because I already had a very close, best friend here at home. Named Peanut. No one else could see Peanut except for me. Yes, everyone would call Peanut my imaginary friend, but that’s not true. Peanut is quite real.

After a long day at school, I discussed my woes with Peanut…who as always listened very attentively.

After I was finished, Peanut said in a somewhat shy voice, “I’d go with you.”

“Thanks, nut. But no one else sees you except for me. That’s all I need…to be called a CRAZY loser.”

“No, silly, I can go as a human.”

“….”

“Seriously. If you really, really believe in me, you can make me real.”

“How would I do that?”

“Call the science lab.”

So….I called the science lab. “My friend has this problem…”

Well, for one rainbow gem and oodles of money, I could get a potion to turn Peanut real. Now…here’s where I became permanently grounded. I stole the single, rare and priceless rainbow gem from my mother’s collection..along with several thousand simoleans.

The potion was ready on the day of prom. After school, I went to the lab to pick up the potion and then immediately home to give it to Peanut. We were going to miss the Prom. Jodi was already in her dress and waiting for her ride. I didn’t care…I was so anxious about the potion, the prom didn’t matter to me anymore. If it worked…whoa. If it didn’t…I’d be working off a debt to my parents for the rest of my teenage life for nothing!

If my dad didn’t witness these events, no one would have believed me. Peanut took the potion eagerly, drank it, and then disappeared in a cloud of purple gas. At first, it didn’t look like it was going to work and then…

…there she was! Peanut was a girl! With deep pink hair and dark eyes. She gave me a huge smile and asked if we could still go to the Prom.

I looked to my dad (I was still grounded) for permission…and still quiet stunned, he nodded consent. Good enough for me! We dashed to the prom in our normal clothing…and in a taxi cab. Jodi had arrived in a limo 30 minutes earlier.

Prom was amazing. Peanut made me feel like I was the coolest guy there. We danced and had our first kiss. By the end of the night, we were going steady.

Jodi’s Day Off

Jodi’s teen years started out well…straight A student, kept her room clean and never caused any trouble. Then one morning, she woke up on the wrong side of the bed and things started rapidly going down hill.

Jodi decided she wasn’t going to go to school that day. Instead, she asked her friend to meet her in the park. Her friend showed up, but then chickened out and went to school- which is what Jodi should have done.

Instead she wandered around the park and met up with another student, Bryce, who was also skipping school. Jodi and Bryce do not get along apparently, and Jodi just felt like being mean, I think. She picked a fight with this kid, which quickly turned violent.

It was here that Jodi made a realization about her future life…I’m not sure if it was because she realized she had aggression issues that needed to be dealt with, or what, but during this fight she decided she wanted to pursue a career in the military. After today, I’m considering shipping her off to military school.

After the public fist-fight, she declared Bryce her nemesis.

Jodi spent the rest of the day wandering around town, egging people’s houses, and eventually came home after curfew. And was immediately grounded.

Tomorrow’s post will be brought to you by someone different. I’ve asked Basil to do tomorrow’s entry. You’ll see why. :)

Teen #2….

After returning from France, I decided to take a few days to relax. In fact, I’m pretty much retired now. We’ll do just fine selling off some of things I’ve collected over the years and Billy is still painting occasionally. My plan is just to stay home and watch my children grow up.

When the children are in school, Billy & I take over the gaming console.

Jodi has transitioned into a serious-looking teenager, but (thankfully!) she doesn’t appear to have changed much. She’s a bit more absent-minded; but that is because she is always so caught up in her studies, or making a potion with her chemistry set…she tends to lose track of time.

Borage has decided to join Scouts! I couldn’t be prouder!

Borage does have a bit of an imagination, but he loves school. He always gets his homework done and earns high marks.

Basil is whom I am most concerned about. I’ve had to ground him several times now! He just won’t listen to me. We used to have such a great relationship, but things have been strained…he is always getting into trouble and his siblings constantly have to remind him to get his homework done.He spends far too much time trying to meet all the celebrities in town.

Success!

I returned to France on my own. I was determined to achieve my third and final level 3 visa. My first assignment was simply a continuation of the last one…investigating the local museum in order to uncover the source of some strange sounds that were emanating from the basement.

Several hidden doors and secret passageways later, I uncovered a hidden vault with a highly uncooperative door.   There I discovered a well decomposed body and a note. The body was apparently that of a former caretaker who went missing ages ago. While he was working down in the vault he became trapped by the hidden door. I reported this to my employer.

I then traveled to the cemetery to bury the caretaker in his family’s tomb.

As well as notified the sole remaining family member. And here I was extremely fortunate. Not only was the family member incredibly pleased with my efforts, he is also the owner of the general store, and therefore has several connections with the visa office. I was awarded 35 visa points- in addition to those I earned from my employer. This was enough to grant me level 3 status- much quicker than I anticipated!

Before leaving, I consulted with a real estate agent on the possibility of purchasing a vacation home in France. Unfortunately, this is not a financial possibility for me- especially considering I have three children to look after and incredibly unsteady income. So instead of a vacation home, I splurged on several bottles of very expensive nectar- Billy will be very pleased!
